Lane County (population: 7,263).

The Old Town is tastefully restored and has many shops and restaurants along the river.
A tradition says the city was named after state senator A.B. Florence; Lane County representative from 1858-1860.
Another says that Florence was named for a French vessel that was wrecked at the mouth of the Siuslaw River in 1875.
