I have lived in several cities and I must say Portland Oregon I like best. The people are friendly and there is lots to do. It is called the City of Roses and has an annual Rose parade   that shows them off.

I really love the Pearl District here. There you find Old Warehouses that have been transformed into retail spaces, galleries, artists, studios with original works of art. I like to treat myself to the quaint restaurants that house some great chefs. The Pearl District has some of the streets original cobblestone that line the streets and it feels like you are stepping back in time.

The Portland Streetcar travels thru the Pearl District, Nob Hill and the downtown area and I think that the best Jazz in town is at Jimmy Mak's.

While visiting Portland, check out the "Shanghai Tunnels" also called the "Portland Underground Tour" tunnels. They are pretty interesting.

I hope all who visit Portland check out the Classical Chinese Gardens here too,

it is an authentically built Ming Dynasty style garden. It has covered and open walkways, pavilions, bridges, and is beautifully landscaped around Zither Lake. Non of the views are the same. It is so peaceful, an oasis of beauty and one of my favorite places to visit.

So, I hope that anyone who explores Portland will look deeper into the city than what it may appear like on the outside.
