Cape Blanco Lighthouse
Two hundred and forty-five feet above the sea, on a wind swept bluff, sits the Cape Blanco Lighthouse.
Isolated and remote, the lighthouse is Oregon's most westerly, highest above the sea at 245 feet and
Oregon's oldest, continuously operating light. Cape Blanco overlooks some of the most dangerous waters
in America. Countless vessels and many lives have been lost along this treacherous stretch of rocky coast.
Oregon's first official woman lighthouse keeper, Mable E. Bretherton signed on in 1903.
